There is a class action lawsuit against Tresemmé claiming “DMDM Hydantion” triggered hair loss in several hundred women!
DMDM Hydantion prevents microbial growth in products like shampoo, conditioner, mousse, hair spray and other cosmetics. I’m all for preventing microbial growth, but not at the expense of hair growth!
This potentially harmful ingredient stops microbes by slowly releasing formaldehyde. Here are some other formaldehyde-releasers to look out for:
Diazolidinyl urea (involved in a similar lawsuit against Suave in 2012)
Quaternium-15
Check all of your hair products for these toxic ingredients!
If you’ve experienced hair loss or scalp burns after using Tresemmé “Keratin Hair Smoothing Shampoo” or “Keratin Smooth Color” then collect documentation (photos & receipts) and keep an eye on this case.
Fully resolving hair loss starts by finding the root cause. Sourcing the cause requires us to look in outside and in for sources of imbalance.
Thankfully; not everyone has a severe reaction to these ingredients and the reaction doesn’t appear to cause permanent hair loss.
